ONE UPMANSHIP

coming up to your birthday mum and I'm just remebering when I was 'courting'. You know you always told me I had to be home at a set time, many a time I arrived home to find you had gone to bed and worse still I had no key. Luckily for us there was a phone box down the road and so Jonathan would run down and ring home, wait for your light to come on run back up while I knocked on the door, apologising for getting you up, but you would just look and sometimes with a wry smile say'thats ok, I was awake anyway, the phones been ringing. I always thought I'd got the better of you, but looking back, no, the wry smile, jonathan out of breath, you were'nt daft, no one got the better of you, but even if you did know you never once said-just glad we were home safe. x
